Boston Marathon Memorial, April 2013 Reconnecting with Copley Square, after the bombings at this year's 117th Boston Marathon...

I made this photograph after the one week anniversary of the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15th 2013. Slowly the Copley Square area of the city is coming back to life.  Memorials have been spontaneously created, moved and recreated, as the restricted area slowly reduced in size.  Finally, Copley Square reopened to the public on April 24th, and the memorials have finally settled here.  This area of the city was eeriliy back to normal this evening, with business opening up, people going about their usual activities, even panhandlers in front of the Apple Store.  But there are still a plethora of news trucks and press on nearly every block, rehearsing and broadcasting their stories of the event.  And of course there are the memorials and the sense of somber reflection and loss.

To those who were injured and killed on April 15th and especially to their families and loved ones, hope for the future...
